Call now if you notice any of these:
- A burning or electrical smell, or smoke from any part of the system.
- A gas smell. Leave the house first, then call your gas company from outside.
- Water leaking through a ceiling or pooling near the indoor unit.
- No cooling during a heat wave when someone at home is elderly, very young or unwell.
- A breaker that trips again right after you reset it.

What to Tell Us When You Call
A few details help the technician arrive with the right parts and find the cause faster:
- What kind of system it is: central AC with a furnace, a heat pump or a ductless mini-split. The age helps too, if you know it.
- What changed and when: “stopped cooling yesterday afternoon” tells us more than “it’s not working.”
- Sounds and smells: clicking, buzzing, grinding, a musty smell or a burning smell.
- Blinking lights or codes: many furnaces and mini-splits show an error code. A phone photo of it is very helpful.
- What you’ve already tried: a filter change, a breaker reset or new thermostat batteries.
